Latitude and Longitude drinking is something you should experience if you’re a beer drinker. Now having a pint of Guinness in Ireland is a no brainer, right? But what about when you head to the islands (wherever your islands may be). For us, our islands are the Caribbean. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been to many islands over the years and when I do, I like to imbibe like the locals.
The song “Beer on a Beach” by Jessie Rice is a fantastic little journey through the islands and what the locals drink in those locations for the most part. Here is a link to listen if you’re interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkDK_PT1L8k
I admit, almost none of these beers are or will ever find a space in my bar fridge. They aren’t great beers, but something about them when you’re sitting on a hot beach just makes them delicious and it feels right!
Take a listen and if you find yourself on a beach in Aruba, have yourself a Balashi. Hanging out at Cabbage Beach in the Bahamas? Crack up a cold Kalik. An ice cold bottle of Carib hits the spot as well if you’re chilling in the BVIs.
What’s your island and your favorite beach beer?? I’d love to know!
