Here’s a heavy Friday topic: School shootings in the US.
Depending where you live, school may have started in your town. Here in NJ, most don’t start until after the Labor Day weekend. So even though our area hasn’t started school for the 2025-2026 school year, others schools are in session and have already had shootings take place. So I pose the question: What’s the solution? The Answer: I don’t know that it’s just one thing or that simple.
You can feel free to post your thoughts here. I’m just going to throw out some stats.
First, it’s pathetic that we have to have a K-12 School Shooting Database, but here is the link for your reference so you can see some facts that have been gathered for several decades.

Also, data suggests that about 1/3 of Americans own guns. I’m guessing that is a low figure and that it’s much higher. In my opinion, the majority of gun owners are responsible individuals. I just think there needs to be more stringent background checks and no need for assault rifles. The number 1 reason cited for owning a gun: home protection. Do you really need an assault rifle? I’ll have to look up the stats on how many home invasions involved a fully armed team of people like we see in the movies. (I’m guessing not many)
So what do you think? Less guns, more guns, stricter gun laws, more awareness for people with mental illness, etc…..
