What is the best dog hairbrush?

Yesterday was grooming day for Deke. For anyone with a Goldendoodle, you know this is something that occurs every 8 weeks or so (give or take). When we first adopted Deke, we loved the big, hairy, fluffy dog he became when we was approaching 1 year old. However, as first time doodle owners, we didn’t realize how matted this breed can get. I brushed him daily but it wasn’t enough. Here is a picture of Deke around 1 year old before his first ever haircut.

Despite my best brushing efforts, he needed to get shaved down. I know there are thousands of doodle owners who have gone through the same situation only to get their dog back from the groomers and say “that doesn’t even look like my dog!!”

We never allow Deke to get that long of hair again. We keep him longer in the winter and come summer we get what we refer to as his “summer cut” or “swimming cut” for all his dips in the pool. This is him before his haircut yesterday.

And his is him this morning all fluffy and smelling nice.

So to answer the question, “What is the best hairbrush for dogs?”, here is my answer:

Chris Christensen Big G Dog Slicker Brush for Dogs (Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Poodles), Groom Like a Professional, Fluff Detangle Style, Saves Time Energy, Coral, Large

Yes, it’s expensive for a brush but it’s worth every penny. I used this brush on both Deke and Delaney and it makes life easier on our groomers because they are not all tangled and matted anymore. Definitely worth a try.
