Today we’re going to discuss Vermont beers. For all the craft beer nerds like myself, there are two (somewhat popular and well known) craft breweries in Vermont. Now I’m sure there are more to discover, but as a first time visitor I sought out beers by Alchemist and Hill Farmstead. I was not disappointed.
First, we visited Alchemist brewing in Stowe since it was less than 10 minutes from our VRBO. The brewery was fantastic, the facility grounds were spectacular, and the vibe was just very “Vermont Chill”. People hanging out on the lawn, kids playing games, dogs, etc. They even had cornhole set up all over the lawn area (which we played and Emily beat me pretty handily). Overall, a great place to drink quality beers and just relax. Pictures of Alchemist are below.
One of the other beer highlights was drinking Hill Farmstead. I’ve had a few of their beers in the past but they were all sours, which they do a great job. I was excited to try their pale ales and any IPA I could get my lips on. Their pale ale “Edward” was available in many places. I had it on tap a few times and it’s terrific! It’s packed with flavor for a 5.2% ABV pale ale. It deserves its 98 rating on BeerAdvocate. (https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22511/57886/)
The last night at dinner at Doc Ponds in Stowe, they had one of their double IPAs on tap named Society and Solitude. Now they have many versions of this beer that all range from 96 to 100 rating. It was amazing! If Hill Farmstead was just a bit closer to where we were staying I would have made the trip out there and came home with cases of their beers. Oh well…next visit.
As a bonus….we drove up through NY State and went to the Saratoga Springs, NY location of Treehouse. Excellent location and set up! We hit that on the way up for vacation beers and on the way back as well. I loaded up my fridge and was the beer mule for 5 more friends. It was a delicious trunk full of beer to say the least.
