Yesterday was a complete wash out here. Cold, rainy, and just a mess from pretty much morning until bedtime. The challenge as many dog owners are well aware of is what to do with our younger, more energetic dogs in this situation.
Deke is a 5 year old Goldendoodle. He is pretty chill at this point and can manage a day in the house without a lot of activity. I go through our grooming routine, let him and Delaney “play fight” to get energy out, do a little training session for mental stimulation, he’ll chew on some bones….and he’s all good for the most part. Deke here is ready for bed at the normal hour with me.

Delaney, as I’ve mentioned in the past, is built differently. She is a 1 1/2 year old Portuguese Water Dog which basically equals bat shit crazy. She did all the grooming, “play fighting”, bone chewing, training, and in addition did probably close to hour of fetching her ring toy in the house. Not enough for her.
Her body was ready to go at 1am. Which in turn gets Deke up in the middle of the night too. So long story short….I ended up cuddling with both of them on the couch last night after each had a trip to the bathroom. Not a terrible situation as they both snuggled up next to me.
But I’m going to be adding some more activities for them on the next rainy day if possible!!
