So it’s been a couple weeks since I last reported on Delaney in the pool and her swimming progress. As expected, each time in the pool she gets more comfortable and ventures out more on her own. She will jump off the steps and go fetch the tennis balls just like her big brother, Deke. She has also done a great job of learning to use the steps and stay away from the pool liner to avoid ripping it. Now if we can only get her to stop eating mud and running through the dirt.
Overall, she’s a fantastic swimmer. I knew that with a little time that she would love the water….I mean she is a Portuguese Water Dog. But no matter what the breed of dog, you still need to work with them and build their confidence around water. I’m extremely glad she has taken to it so quickly and the greatest benefit is the exercise and the fact it wears her out tremendously! Tired dogs are good dogs!!
