Oktoberfest

Happy Booze Tuesday! It’s September so it’s time for Oktoberfest. Yes…I didn’t get that wrong. Oktoberfest is called that because it started in October in 1810 to celebrate a royal wedding, but was moved to September to take advantage of warmer weather and longer daylight hours. Although the festival now largely takes place in September, it retains its original name as a nod to its historical roots, with the festivities still ending in early October.  Oktoberfest this year is officially taking place in Germany this Saturday, Sept. 20th through Sunday, Oct. 5th. It’s a bucket list item for me to attend this festival in Munich some day!

I’ll celebrate at home though with a variety of Oktoberfest beers over the next month or so. Now I’ve always been a big fan of supporting local breweries but when when it comes to these beers, I’m not going to by an American version of a Fest Beer. I will stick to the authentic German beers here because they obviously do these perfectly. Prost!!
