I’ll stay on topic again today and talk a bit about Travel and Sports. And this is for you hockey fans out there…but especially you old guys like me who still try to play this great game.
Back when I first put on skates after I turned 40 and decided I was going to play ice hockey, a group of people (most who I didn’t know) were filling out a roster to go play in a Can/AM tournament up in Lake Placid. Two of my very good friends were going and we decided to make a trip out of it. I’m so glad we did.
If you have ever put on skates, or are at an age that you remember the 1980 “Miracle on Ice”, Lake Placid is a must visit. A small town in upstate NY where you can still feel the excitement and aura of 1980 (some of that due to the fact many places look like they are still stuck in 1980….but that’s the charm)
But to be able to lace them up and skate on the 1980 rink was a thrill. I would definitely like to go again someday if possible, but I’m really hoping my son’s team will head there one of these years for a tournament.
Anyone else been there or skated there? I would love to hear what your experience was as well.
Here’s a few shots from over 10 years ago….
