Holiday and time off is over. It’s back to work in 2025 for me…and for all of us. I don’t understand how people say “if you retired, you would be bored” That’s a big HELL NO….I’d find plenty to keep my busy and happy.

I wanted to start off the new year with an update from our hike in Shenandoah National Park right before Christmas. It was amazing! The fact we went right before Christmas with temps in the teens and 20s, it kept the hiking trails fairly empty. Our 10 mile hike on Old Rag Mountain…we passed 7 total people the entire time. Our short hike on the first day up Mary’s Rock…we also only passed a few people.

Reaching the summit on these hikes was worth the view alone as you can see from the pictures. The fact that my daughter still wants to hang out with her old man and go on these hiking trips with me is priceless because I’ll have the memories for a lifetime.

She told me on the summit, as we could look for miles and miles, that it reminds her of how small we all are in the grand scheme of things. I like to think a little more narrow minded at times….and if she was happy to be there with me for that experience…then I’m ok with being small in the grand scheme. Love you Emily!!
