Because of Deke and Delaney (mostly Delaney), we held off on the family vacation this summer. It’s been interesting traveling individually with the kids and I’ve probably just done two trips that would never have happened as a family of 4. We’ll get back to those trips soon as we all agree on a nice Caribbean island or a fun city. But Mikey would golf all day, every day. Emily wants to hike everywhere (I hope I can join her for as many as possible). The trips to Alaska and Vermont were individual trips to focus on the activities that they love best. So trip one and two have been completed.
Mary and I are actually getting away to Boston soon for trip number 3. This trip will involve eating in the North End at our favorite place (La Famiglia Giorgio’s), buying pastries to bring home (Mike’s Pastry and Modern Pastry Shop) and seeing our favorite Irish band, The Saw Doctors. I’m hoping we have a chance to hit Trillium Brewing for lunch on way up or down too (that’s the craft beer nerd in me that won’t stop). This will be the first vacation just the two of us have gone on since before the kids were born. I know some people think we’re crazy for that but we always just enjoyed traveling as a family and we never wanted to leave them behind.
