One of the ways you know you have a true friend is that you could go days, weeks, months, or even years without speaking and when you reconnect, it’s like no time has passed and there is no blame as to why one of you haven’t reached out sooner. You are both just happy to be in the moment and to be connected again…even briefly.
I have some friends that fall into this category and I’m blessed to have them. I do have plenty others who are nearby that I get to see frequently. Then I have the friends that live further away but stay in touch quite often. One of my dearest friends reached out yesterday from Florida and asked what were my thoughts of him coming up to visit for Thanksgiving this year. Quick answer: HELL YEA! Doesn’t even matter what we’re doing or where we’re going. He’s welcome anytime because since I met him just over 10 years ago, we have always considered ourselves brothers.
I have so many stories over the decade of us looking out for each other that I couldn’t possibly write them all. What’s important is that we all have people in our lives, family (doesn’t matter if it’s blood related or not) that we know have our backs. Radek is my brother and I hope things work out that he’s sitting with all of us at the end of November celebrating Thanksgiving.
Do you have that friend you haven’t spoken to in awhile? Shoot him a message today.
Here is a picture from many years ago of us having dinner in South Dakota together.
