For the first time in a very long time, Mary and I got away for a quick trip….without the kids. We love vacationing with the kids…I have mentioned that in the past and it still holds true. But we had the opportunity to head up to Boston last week for a couple days. What a great trip! Been to Boston many times but it’s a great city.
We stopped on the drive up and hit a little lake community for a Lobster Roll. Delicious!
We got into Boston, checked into the Marriott Long Wharf, walked around Faneuil Hall for a bit in the heat, and then went to dinner in the North End to our favorite place, La Famiglia Giorgios. Still the best Italian food in Boston…and that’s coming from an Italian who has a lot of experience cooking and eating it!
We then took the train to the MGM Music Hall at Fenway for a concert. The concert was the Irish rock band, The Saw Doctors. You have probably never head of them but we have followed them for many years. Despite being around for a long time, they put on an amazing show….just as good as they did when I was going to their shows in the early 1990s.
Next day…Grabbed cannoli from Mike’s Pastries to bring home. Swing by Trillium Brewing in Canton, MA. Then off to the Charlton, MA for Treehouse Brewing. Lastly, BTs Smokehouse for BBQ…best BBQ I have ever had outside of Austin, TX
Then hours and hours of traffic on the way home…only non-fun portion of trip but we made the best of it. Overall, I think we’ll have to plan another one with just us again….and maybe the dogs….
