So this week is always a big one in the house. Mary celebrated her birthday (I believe it was her 29th again) and we also celebrated our 21st Wedding Anniversary two days later. I couldn’t imagine a better partner to live my life with than her. We compliment each other so well….basically she is all that is good and I’m the opposite…but it works.
What’s the secret to a long and happy marriage? I have no idea. When it works, it just works. And when you know, you know. I remember my wedding day very well even though it was more than 2 decades ago now. I remember my brother (my best man) asking me before the ceremony if I was nervous. I was not. Not even a little. My response to him was “Marrying Mary was the easiest decision I’ve ever made”. It really was because I was totally outkicking my coverage on this one!
So a Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to Mary! I love you and always will.
And for you guys wondering what gifts we exchange after all these years of being together….the answer is not much of anything. Don’t get me wrong…you newlyweds need to exchange gifts and all that stuff for the first several years. But eventually you will get to a point that it’s more about the daily gestures than the yearly gifts.
Have a great weekend everyone!
