Tomorrow afternoon is the annual Oktoberfest party that my brother hosts each year at his house. As expected, I’m very excited for a day of German beer, Sausages, good friends and family, and some college football on the TV.
We are fortunate enough living in this area to have some quality and authentic meat and butcher shops from almost every nation/ethnicity/background in the world. And thankfully there is a wonderful German Meat store right over the bridge where my brother gets his sausages each year called Rieker’s Prime Meats. https://riekersmeats.com If you live anywhere near Philly, this place does it right and is worth the visit.
Though my brother also makes an amazing homemade spaetzle, the side dish highlight in my opinion is the red cabbage! Though not his recipe, here is one for everyone to try:

I have some readers here from Germany….I would love to hear from you how and with what food/drinks you celebrate with there. We do our best to make it authentic but I want to hear from the professionals!
Prost!
