With yesterday being a holiday here in the US (Labor Day), I’m just going to be off topic this week. So NO, the Appalachian Trail has nothing to do with Finances or Booze (as far as I know). But with Emily home from college (after one whole week) we decided to take Sunday as a day to go hiking again. Surprisingly, we didn’t have to leave the state of NJ to hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail. This not only comes as a shock to most people, it comes as a complete surprise to most people living here in NJ. The Appalachian Trail does actually have about a 72 mile stretch running through northern NJ up by the Delaware Water Gap.
So we drove a couple hours north, did our best to find some roadside parking near a trailhead, and headed off on multiple connecting trails (Kaiser Trail, Coppermine Trail, Rattlesnake Swamp) before eventually running into a small portion of the Appalachian Trail.
It was a beautiful day, the views were amazing as usual, and we even got to see a Northern Black Racer Snake. Overall, another wonderful Father/Daughter hike in a long line of completed hikes with many more to come in the future! Thanks for still hiking with you old man, Em!
