Many years ago (probably close to 30) I was hanging out with my buddy Jeff and his father. We were making dinner, relaxing, having some drinks and then his dad pours us a couple glasses and says “have this”. Being college students, or possibly recently graduated, we wouldn’t turn down free booze. We drank it and immediately knew it wasn’t good. Some bottle of Potato Vodka that was gifted to him that he himself wouldn’t drink. It was nasty. Some time later, he tries to get us to have some more…we say “you gotta mix it with something”. So he prepares two more glasses and hands them to us. We drink it again….just awful. We asked him what did you mix it with this time? His response: “Air”. I haven’t drank a sip of vodka in 30 years.
So another friend brought a large bottle of Kettle One to my house for a party years ago. That bottle still sits in my bar practically untouched with one exception: Vodka Sauce.
So when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. When a friend hands me vodka, I now make Vodka Sauce.
I don’t follow recipes very closely but this one below is actually pretty good and I base my Vodka Sauce creation off of it. Give it a shot! (Pun intended)

And even though I will never drink it, I’m sure potato vodka has come a long way in 30 years. Here’s an article for those of you daring enough to drink this stuff:
