Golf in Alaska

“You came to Alaska to golf? Why?”

This was the question many local Alaskans asked us while we played 4 rounds of golf in 4 days. In all honesty, we could have just went to Florida or Myrtle Beach, SC or Arizona….or any typical golf destination. They would have all been fun. But I wanted a trip that was different and that we would always remember….and I’ve always been fascinated by Summer Solstice in Alaska and all that sunlight.

Now that we are back from the trip…it was 100% the right choice. We had a blast, the golf was so much fun, and we were able to play most of our rounds late night on uncrowded courses.

Here is where we played in order:

Anchorage was probably the best course and we finished after midnight which was a cool experience. Palmer had the best view by far compared to the other ones. Settler’s Bay was the only round we played during the morning/day. It was damp and rainy that day and there was pretty much no one else on the course. Definitely a good course as well and nice playing a round in well under 3 hours. Moose Run was the last course and it’s located on a military base. They have two courses: the Hill Course and the Creek Course. We were originally booked on the Hill Course but the local kids we were teamed up with when we played Anchorage told us to play the Creek Course instead saying it was in better shape and was more scenic. Always listen to the locals! I’m glad we played the Creek Course because it was fantastic. We would happily play any of them again!

Here’s some pictures from the courses:

Last picture was finishing at Moose Run and completing our 4 rounds of golf. What I’ll remember most: Mikey hugging me on the 18th green and saying “Thanks Dad”.
