For those of you that love the game of hockey (playing or watching), tonight is Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. I have to say I’m cheering for Edmonton in this one…not just because I would like to see Connor McDavid finally win a cup…but maybe also a little because I don’t want to see Brad Marchand lift another one!
Either way, it’s going to be a great series and I’m just going to appreciate the great intense hockey that is continuing to happen during the playoffs.
Many years ago when the Blackhawks won their last cup, I stood in line for a few hours with a buddy of mine holding a spot for a chance to see the cup up close. I didn’t do it for me. I passed up the opportunity to stand with Trevor van Riemsdyk and the cup. When I was in that line and knew were about an hour or so still waiting, I called Mary and said put the kids in the car and drive to Holmdel, NJ. The were so excited to get there, get in line with me for about 5-10 mins and get to see the cup. I don’t remember standing in line 10 years ago….but my kids will never forget seeing the Stanley Cup for the first time.
Below is also a picture of the kids at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. We were up in Niagara Falls for one of Mikey’s tournaments at the time and made the trip up from there. If you have never been and are a hockey fan….You will love it! Just like any baseball fan should make the pilgrimage to Cooperstown, its a must see!
Have a great weekend everyone!
