So today’s topic “Wine Enthusiast” is a joke since I’m truly only capable of giving a decent review of beer and some hard liquor. But don’t get me wrong…I do occasionally enjoy a glass of Red Wine. I definitely lean towards Italian Red Wines and the occasional Malbec. These are usually reserved for when I’m making meatballs and gravy at home (the gravy gets a little….I get a little…) or when I’m out at a fancy restaurant (which only occurs during business trips bc I prefer nice bars instead if I’m the one choosing)
Can I tell the difference between an $8 bottle vs a $50 bottle? Not a chance. For you true wine enthusiasts and sommeliers out there…feel free to educate me further on what I should be tasting, seeing, smelling, etc.
Quick side story: years ago I had a friend who was a wine broker and she had tons of wine stocked at her place. A few of us once opened a bottle of some $500 wine she had….and THAT I could certainly distinguish between the $8 bottle. Now $500 bottles of wine is definitely not in my budget so I’ll continue to enjoy the stuff on the bottle shelf.
Here is a quick little read about what makes the difference between the cheap bottle vs the expensive bottle.
So read it, learn something….and then go pour yourself a beer.
