Happy Friday indeed! For those of you following the college football playoffs this year, last night’s game did not disappoint. For a life long Notre Dame fan, it was very exciting to watch the Irish come back from the dead in the first half and completely turn their game around.
My father grew up a Notre Dame fan (subway alumni, as they call them) and passed that love on to me. I attended my first ND game when I was about 8 years old when they played up in old Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands. My first game in South Bend was my senior year in college and happened to be the last game in original Notre Dame stadium before the expansion. I can’t believe I actually found a picture of myself and the friends I attended that game with….and I remember it was 1 degree F!!
After college, my father and I drove from NJ to South Bend every year for close to 15 years to see games together. Memories that will last a lifetime for me…and him.
Several year ago I took my family out there for their first game and had my parents join us as well.
Over the years, I don’t remember the wins or losses for the most part. But I’ll always remember the time spent with my father and my family on those trips. Thanks Dad for passing along a love for Notre Dame football…even though they’ve been breaking our hearts since 1988!! Maybe next Monday is the end of a long wait. GO IRISH!!
