If there was one thing I was qualified to give an opinion on this holiday season, it was definitely beer. I probably drank too much over the long break I had but I enjoyed it. So of the many, many beverages I consumed, which one was the holiday favorite? For reference, let me say these weren’t the best overall beers….just the best seasonal beers.
#3 Einstok Winter Ale

My brother brought this one over for our Christmas Eve gathering. Great flavor! Very drinkable and has that warm you up inside kinda feel to it. I don’t think of Icelandic beer as being highly rated but I enjoyed this one thoroughly.
#2 Troegs Gingerbread Cookie Stout

Talk about a dessert beer! I tried a sample of this at the brewery before the holidays to see if it warranted purchasing a 6 pack. The answer was Hell Yea! Perfectly balanced for a high ABV beer as well. Tasted almost the exact same from the can as it did from a brewery pour which is excellent. Definitely will grab this one again next season.
#1 Southern Tier Chestnut Praline

This was my #1 but it comes with a caveat to it….if you are not a fan of a New Orleans praline, this may not be one for you. However, for me, this was like being on Bourbon St in the afternoon and needing a sweet snack after scarfing down a bowl of gumbo and a big dish of jambalaya! They packed the flavor of a praline into a bottle perfectly. It’s definitely sweet so I preferred sharing a bottle with friends. But flavor wise, it was the season’s most unique one for me.
